SOCIAL YOGA – TERMS & CONDITIONS
Effective Date: 9 March 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to all classes, memberships, workshops, events, studio hire, and services provided by Social Yoga.
By attending classes, booking through our website, or participating in events at Social Yoga, you agree to the following terms.
⸻
Our Approach
Social Yoga is a community-focused studio. Our policies are designed to protect the space as a welcoming and safe environment for everyone who attends.
Rather than relying on punitive systems or financial penalties, we aim to operate on the basis of trust, mutual respect, and shared responsibility. We believe most members of our community act in good faith, and our policies are written to support that spirit while ensuring the studio remains sustainable and inclusive.
These guidelines help us maintain a space where people from a wide range of backgrounds — including children, families, LGBTQ+ community members, people of different faiths and cultures, and individuals who may be seeking a supportive or restorative environment — can feel comfortable and respected.
Where issues arise, we aim to address them with fairness and common sense while prioritising the wellbeing of the wider community.
⸻
1. Participation and Personal Responsibility
Yoga and movement practices involve physical activity. By participating in classes, workshops, or events at Social Yoga, you confirm that you are responsible for monitoring your own physical condition during participation.
Students should inform instructors of any injuries, health conditions, pregnancy, or circumstances that may affect their ability to participate safely.
Participants agree to practise within their own limits and stop if they experience pain or discomfort.
Social Yoga and its instructors cannot be held responsible for injuries sustained during participation unless caused by negligence.
⸻
2. Bookings
Classes, workshops, and events should normally be booked in advance using our online booking system.
Walk-ins may be accommodated where space allows, but this cannot be guaranteed.
⸻
3. Class Packs
Social Yoga offers the following class packs:
5 Class Pack
Valid for 3 months from activation
10 Class Pack
Valid for 6 months from activation
Class packs are intended for personal use and are not transferable unless agreed by the studio.
Unused classes are generally non-refundable.
⸻
4. Memberships
Social Yoga memberships operate on a no minimum contract basis.
To allow the studio to plan classes and activities sustainably, we require 20 days’ notice to cancel a membership.
Because memberships run on a monthly billing cycle, this notice period usually allows members approximately 10 days within their billing period to cancel without entering another full billing cycle, maintaining the spirit of a flexible membership with no minimum term.
Membership cancellations can be made through the booking system or by contacting the studio directly.
⸻
5. Cancellations
We recognise that plans change and aim to operate a fair and community-minded approach.
Students are encouraged to cancel bookings in advance where possible so that spaces can be offered to others.
Social Yoga does not operate strict financial penalties for occasional late cancellations. However, repeated late cancellations or no-shows may result in the loss of the class credit.
We do not impose additional financial fines. Our intention is to balance flexibility with fairness to the wider community.
⸻
6. Late Arrival
We understand that delays can happen.
Where possible, students arriving late may be admitted up to approximately 5 minutes after the class has started, depending on the class format and whether it would disrupt the session.
For safety and consideration for others, entry may not be possible after this point.
If a student arrives too late to join a class, we will normally offer the opportunity to rebook into another class free of charge, recognising that unexpected delays occur.
⸻
7. Changes to Classes
Social Yoga aims to maintain a consistent timetable wherever possible. We recognise that many students plan their week around their classes, so changes to scheduled sessions are kept to a minimum.
Occasionally, changes may be unavoidable due to instructor illness, unforeseen circumstances, or operational needs. When this happens, we will always aim to communicate the change as clearly and quickly as possible.
Where possible, we will arrange a cover teacher so that the class can still take place. In these cases the style or flow of the class may differ slightly from what was originally planned, but the session will still be delivered.
If a class cannot run as scheduled, students will normally be offered the option to:
• transfer their booking to another suitable class
• receive a credit for a future session
In most cases we will help arrange the alternative booking directly so that students can continue their practice without additional cost.
Our aim is always to manage any changes in a way that is fair, transparent, and supportive of our community.
⸻
8. Community Conduct and Inclusivity
Social Yoga is an inclusive and welcoming community space.
Our studio regularly works with people from a wide range of backgrounds, including people of different cultures, faiths, identities, ages, and abilities. Our community includes children, families, LGBTQ+ community members, people with additional needs, and many others seeking a supportive wellbeing environment.
All students and visitors are expected to contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and considerate atmosphere.
Discriminatory, harassing, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
Social Yoga reserves the right to refuse entry or remove individuals from the studio if behaviour undermines the safety, dignity, or wellbeing of others.
⸻
9. Respectful Behaviour and Personal Boundaries
Social Yoga is committed to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.
All students and visitors are expected to respect personal boundaries and interact with others in an appropriate and considerate way.
Unwanted attention, harassment, intimidation, or behaviour that makes others feel uncomfortable will not be tolerated.
If any student feels uncomfortable at any point, they are encouraged to speak with a member of the Social Yoga team so the matter can be addressed.
Social Yoga operates a zero-tolerance approach to harassment or inappropriate behaviour and reserves the right to refuse entry or remove individuals from the studio if necessary.
⸻
10. Studio Hire
From time to time, Social Yoga may make the studio available for hire for workshops, events, or community activities.
We ask that anyone hiring the space treats the studio, its equipment, and fixtures with care and respect.
The studio operates as a shoes-off venue in order to protect the flooring and maintain a clean and comfortable environment for yoga practice. The flooring is a key part of the studio space, and we ask all guests and event organisers to take particular care to avoid damage.
We recognise that occasional wear or accidental damage can happen. Where items are damaged and cannot reasonably be repaired, we may ask hirers to contribute to the like-for-like replacement of the affected item.
Our aim is always to address these situations reasonably and through open communication, recognising that the studio is a shared community space.
⸻
11. Personal Belongings
Students are responsible for their personal belongings while attending the studio.
Social Yoga cannot accept responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal items brought onto the premises.
⸻
12. Photography and Media
From time to time, photographs or video may be taken within the studio for promotional purposes.
We aim to do this respectfully and with awareness of those present. If you prefer not to appear in photographs or recordings, please inform the instructor or a member of the Social Yoga team.
⸻
13. Community Work
Social Yoga also works alongside the Fish Island Support Hub (FISH CIC), a Community Interest Company focused on supporting community wellbeing and charitable initiatives in the local area.
Through this partnership, Social Yoga may host or collaborate on community programmes, wellbeing activities, and events that support local residents and groups.
Separate terms or eligibility criteria may apply for activities delivered through community or charitable programmes.
⸻
14. Agreement to Terms
By purchasing a class, class pack, membership, workshop, event, or studio hire through the Social Yoga booking system, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
These terms form part of the agreement between Social Yoga and the participant for the services provided.
